Get your questions answered about the Houston Zoo's beasts at Animal EnrichmentDay
Sometimes, it's difficult to get answers to the most burning questions in life.
For instance, what's an orangutan's favorite toy? Are porcupines mean? For what sorts of essential activities do elephants use their trunks?
Luckily, the Houston Zoo can unravel a few mysteries for you this weekend.
On Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., you'll have your shot at getting satisfaction on those inquiries and more at the Zoo's Animal Enrichment Day.
The Zoo's furry and feathery residents (and every paw in between) are rearing for your visit, with more than 50 scheduled enrichment activities, training demonstrations, Meet the Keeper chats, and other animalistic events.
But don't come with the intention of idly watching from the sidelines. Your kiddos get the chance for some human-style primitive enrichment, including cheetah chases and food foraging.
Even the parentals will have reason to drag out that clunky DSLR they bought back when their kindergartner was born. Photo opportunities bring the animal antics to life throughout the day, featuring African wild dogs on the hunt, Andean bears completing puzzles, and an artistic tapir painting his Monet.
With the weather in our rainforest holding up in stellar fashion, it's a no-brainer to saddle in your wild ones and go trekking through the Zoo this weekend.
And find out for yourselves why the caged bird sings.
