Scirocco Winds opens its new concert series, titled "Elemental Forces." Each performance in the five part series will feature an element and be subtitled "Wind," "Earth," "Water," "Sly" and "Fire." These interdisciplinary concerts are built around music for the woodwind quintet, but incorporate staging, props, theatrical lighting and other art forms thoroughly.

"Elemental Forces: Wind" threads together music, visual effects and poetry that speak to the many sides and faces of the wind. Included in the program is an original poem by Tammy Shanklin written for this performance. The music in the program includes works by Eugene Bozza, Amy Beach, David Lovrien, John Harbison, Samuel Barber, Nikola Resonovic and Szervanszky Endre plus original incidental music by Gina Stevens.

Members of Scirocco Winds are Kimberly Clark (flute), Kelly Mozeik (oboe), Ben Haeuser (clarinet), Tianna Sheaffer (horn) and Gina Stevens (bassoon).
