eventdetail

One of the most versatile and innovative classical groups in Houston, KINETIC teams up with award-winning quintet, Windsync, Houston Symphony associate principal horn, Robert Johnson, and Rice University Professor of Music, Dr. Thomas Jaber, for a program that journeys from the German Baroque to 20th century America.

Beginning with J.S. Bach’s third Brandenburg Concerto, the program fast-forwards two hundred years to Igor Stravinsky’s Neoclassical masterpiece Dumbarton Oaks and Brazilian Heitor Villa-Lobos’ mixed chamber piece, Chôros No. 7. Concluding the program is Arnold Schoenberg’s Suite in the Old Style (written shortly after the composer relocated to California), a piece that reveals the twelve-tone master’s newfound embrace of tonality during his early American years.
