The Italian Cultural & Community Center will host author Justin Nystrom for a presentation and conversation on his book, Creole Italian: Sicilian Immigrants and the Shaping of New Orleans Food Culture.
Nystrom’s book explores the influence of Sicilian immigrants on New Orleans, including the food and goods they introduced to the city, the restaurants and grocery stores they operated and expanded, and most importantly, how they got there. The book was curated based on oral histories recorded with individuals, genealogical records, and years of research.
