The award-winning Houston Youth Symphony opens the 2014-15 season with this performance. Featuring fine young musicians from the region performing in four ensembles, the concert includes works of Stravinsky, Mussorgsky, Elgar, Gershwin and others. The concert includes Canadian composer John Estacio's Frenergy, performed by the HYS Philharmonia under the direction of conductor Michael Alan Isadore. The most advanced ensemble, the HYS Symphony led by artistic director and conductor Michael Webster, performs three movements from Czech composer Bedrich Smetana's Ma Vlast, including the popular Moldau.
