The History of Tango and its Importance in Filmmaking

Academy of Tango - Texas, Casa Argentina de Houston and the Department of International Studies at the University of St. Thomas host a conference focusing on the history of tango and its impact on filmmaking traditions. Gabriel Soria, vice president of the Academia Nacional del Tango in Argentina, will present a lecture on the topic covering 100 years of film history, from 1910 to 2010. The evening will conclude with a Milonga where guests can mix, mingle and show off their tango skills. 

Simultaneous Spanish to English translation is available for reserved ticket holders if requested. 

Schedule:

Registration: 3 p.m.
Lecture and Conference: 3:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Milonga (social tango dancing): 7:45 - 9:00 p.m.
