Gallery Sonja Roesch presents an exhibition of a new series of paintings by Houston-based artist Myke Venable, "Shifting Perspective."
“With our thoughts we make the world. What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create.” This quote attributed to the Buddha exemplifies the vision of Myke Venable’s new body of work, which embodies a shift in consciousness and in one’s awareness of the world. Influenced by the minimalist approaches of artists like Sol Lewitt, Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, and Donald Judd, Venable seeks to strip his canvases down to the basics of composition, using an intuitive process to determine their geometry and colors. By subtly shifting the center of balance, Venable encourages us to allow our own perspectives to shift.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display until March 21.
