What makes a boutique hotel? Luxurious amenities? A strong sense of style? Maybe it's a little bit of both.
One Houston hotel that seems to have those qualities in spades is Hotel Sorella, the anchor of the ever-expanding CityCentre complex. This month Sorella was named "Lifestyle Hotel of the Year," at the Third Annual Boutique & Lifestyle Hospitality Awards, presented by the Boutique & Lifestyle Lodging Association trade show.
To be awarded best Lifestyle hotel ( a category for properties with 120 to 400 rooms), Sorella was judged based on its "unique style and design, upscale amenities and food & beverage, personalized customer focus," and more. Hotel Sorella was joined in the winner's circle by Miami's Betsy Hotel, which won Boutique Hotel of the Year and Boutique & Lifestyle Hotel of the Year for its owner, Jonathan Plutzik.
It's not the first recognition for Hotel Sorella. Since it opened in 2009, Sorella has earned a spot on the Condé Nast Gold List — twice — and been named among the best business hotels by Fortune and Wallpaper.
