Nonstop flights from Houston to Big Bend make west Texas jaunt easier

Want to escape to a minimalist West Texas oasis without the day-long road trip? Starting in March, Dallas-based Resort Air Services will fly nonstop from Houston to Big Bend.

The private charter company will fly out of the Million Air aviation terminal at Hobby Airport and land at Lajitas International Airport, roughly 120 miles from Marfa. Flights on the 30-seat twin-engine jet, operated by Ultimate Jet Charters, will cost approximately $400 round trip for adults and $99 for children.

A Resort Air Services spokesperson said the Houston flights will commence on February 25, with service to Lajitas on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and a return flight on Fridays.

Resort Air Services currently operates a route from Dallas to Big Bend several times a week. Austin service begins on March 2, the Austin Business Journal reports.
