WHERE TO SHOP NOW

Where to shop in Houston right now: 14 must-hit spots for November

Gabi De la Rosa
Nov 1, 2022 | 2:30 pm

Welp, Halloween is officially over. It is time to trade the pumpkins for turkeys and (gulp, dare we say it) Christmas trees.

This month's shopping guide is perfect for those who can't wait to put an extra jingle in their step or enjoy checking off to-do lists. It is a mix of luxury, practical and convenient shopping options – perfect for early Christmas purchases or just enjoying Houston's retail abundance.

Anea Hill the buzzy River Oaks District hosts famed designer and Bachelor alum AshLee Frazier in a three-month shopping experience showcasing her brand ANEA HILL. Guests can shop ANEA HILL luxury sunglasses, clothing and hats from now through the end of the year. Frazier will also be hosting several events in the River Oaks District space.

Finely Shirts

It is that time when the holiday colors and patterns come out of storage. Finley Shirts are perfect for the gal that loves all things plaid around the holidays but also can't resist a classic white poplin blouse. Finley shirts are available at Tootsies and online.

Ganni x Submission Beauty

A cult favorite, Ganni, just dropped their newest collaboration with Submission Beauty. The makeup collection features three zero-plastic glitter shades in mixed tones, iridescent pink and holographic silver made from natural and plant-derived materials like cellulose. The limited edition capsule collection is available at Ganni in Montrose Collective.

Gucci

Guccio Gucci, who founded his eopnymous legendary brand, got his start as a porter at The Savoy in London. Witnessing travelers with their luggage inspired him to start his eponymous line when he returned to Italy. Now, Gucci has unveiled updates to its iconic Savoy collection, which is available online or in the Houston Galleria boutique. The new styles are ideal for gifts or travel this holiday season.

Hotel Lulu Custom Blankets

Hotel Lulu, a luxury boutique hotel in Round Top, partnered with Houston-based and female-owned Studio Imli to create custom blankets with artisans in the Cholistan Desert in Pakistan. These handwoven blankets are traditionally passed down through generations. They are not commercially available, but Sanna Sahi, Studio Imli's founder, wants to give these artisans a voice within the Western design world. Currently, they are only available for purchase through Hotel Lulu – call 979-249-5174 or email ciao@hotellulutx.com.

Jimmy Choo

Get a first look at Jimmy Choo's Fall 2022 boot collection at the Jimmy Choo boots styling event in the Houston Galleria. Guests can peruse the newest styles with an afternoon of seasonal cocktails and music on November 5 from noon to 5 pm. Guests are encouraged to RSVP to anna.quintero@jimmychoo.com or call 713-621-9404.

JJ Olivier

Houston-based luxury handbag line, JJ Olivier, believes it is more important to feel confident because of who you are, not for the name on your bag. Three of their bags are ideal for carrying everyday essentials, traveling and gift-giving. Dress up the Porter Pouch for a spirited soiree, travel for a holiday weekend getaway with the Aline Tote or carry your essentials with the Marcelite Satchel.

Levi's

Levi's partnered with Hailey Bieber for its Vote 2022 campaign which encourages people to understand voting and helps voters confidently cast their ballots. Levi's in the Galleria will give free "I Voted" pins through November 8 for those who cast their ballot.

LOOK Lifestyle

Mother-daughter duo Sylvia Longoria Dorsey and Elizabeth Dorsey Fertitta want to make luxury gift-giving and sleeping easier this season. For the woman who has everything, The Boobie Pillow is a gorgeous, supportive sleep aid that combats cleavage wrinkles. The Lily Rose Gown is LOOK Lifestyle's newest addition to their sleepwear collection – it is feminine, comfortable and machine washable. Perfect for when the temperature drops, the Dottie Duvet is 100-percent cotton and handwoven by Italian artisans.

Nutcracker Market

The Nutcracker Market returns to NRG Stadium for the 42nd annual event from November 10-13. The highly anticipated event will host over 270 merchants from across the country, including 50 new merchants showcasing a curated collection of holiday items, gourmet food, apparel, jewelry, accessories, home decor, gifts, toys and more. Proceeds from admission tickets plus 11 percent of merchandise sales support the Houston Ballet Foundation, its Academy and scholarship programs.

Nordstromand Nordstrom Rack

This year, Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack are making holiday shopping even more fun and convenient. Beginning November 4, Nordstrom will unveil In-Store Gifting Stations where shoppers can discover grab-and-go gifts at self-service stations that will feature an edit of merchandise across several categories. Another new gifting opportunity, Pop-In@Nordstrom, will help customers find a wonderland of handpicked gifts from global makers and artisans at varying price points. Nordstrom Rack will get in on the action by offering a new and expanded assortment of easy grab-and-go boxed gifts in-store and online. Customers can conveniently shop top brands like Adidas, Kate Spade New York, Madewell, Marc Jacobs, Mattel, UGG, and many more.

Rock Boxes by J Strongwater

Rock n' Roll just took on a new meaning with J Strongwater's new high design, luxury box collection, 'Rock Boxes.' These collectibles are timeless, featuring 14k gold plating and over 1,000 "Rocks," a nod to the hand-set Swarovski crystals. This inaugural line of 'Rock Boxes' commemorates iconic music legends, including The Beatles, Elton John, and The Rolling Stones. Available for purchase online and at Neiman Marcus, the boxes range in price from $15,000 for "The Elton John, which is set with over six thousand individual Swarovski crystals, hand-enameled and finished with 14K gold, to $8,900 for "The Rolling Stones" which celebrates the timeless tongue logo.

Shaftel Diamonds

Shaftel Diamonds is hosting a San Miguel Shopping event on November 19. Two Tequila Sisters and Margarita Mercantile will pop up at the jewelry store for a San Miguel-themed event. Customers can sip on margaritas and enjoy discounts while they shop.

Studs

Studs recently opened its doors in Rice Village – the first location in Houston and the third in Texas. The eclectic jewelry and ear piercing store claim to fame is their use of single-use needle piercings instead of a piercing gun, allowing for less tissue trauma and faster healing times. The store is located at 2567 Amherst St., Suite A137and will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm and Sunday from 12 pm to 6 pm, with in-store piercings available Wednesday through Sunday during store hours.

Justin Turner's new cafe is headed to Generation Park.

A mixed-use development near Lake Houston has welcomed a new coffee shop and cafe that will benefit residents and office burgers. Lupo Caffe is currently in a quiet soft opening phase and will celebrate its grand opening this Friday, November 4.

Located in the Generation Park development. Lupo Caffe replaces Lupo Pizzeria with a counter-service café and coffee shop that's open daily for breakfast, lunch, and early dinners. Thankfully, pizzas are still available next door at Lupo's sister concept, Bocca Italian Kitchen.

Both restaurants are led by chef Justin Turner, the director of hospitality for Generation Park's developer McCord. Best known for his time as the chef-owner of Bernie's Burger Bus, Turner opened Bocca in late 2020.

Mornings at Lupo Caffe start with locally roasted Katz coffee that includes both drip and espresso options as well as nitro cold brew and teas. Pair them with dishes such as breakfast tacos, croissant sandwiches, bowls, and pastries.

At lunch, the menu includes an array of dishes including sandwiches, panini, wraps, soups, salads, and build-your-own bowls. Highlights include Italian wedding soup, porchetta panini, and olive oil cake. End the meal on a sweet note with a scoop of gelato.

Lupo's beverage offerings include a mix of Old World and domestic wines along with eight Italian-inspired cocktails. A market section sells grab-and-go items.

"We saw an opportunity to serve the Lake Houston community with a great coffee shop and Italian café that overlooks an amazing green space perfect for picnics and kids to roam,” Turner said in a statement. “In addition to our hot food items, we’ll have a curated grab-and-go market filled with fresh pastas, homemade pasta sauces, cheeses, wine, fresh squeezed juices, and more [to ensure] our guests can enjoy the best ingredients whether dining at our café, having a picnic on the lawn, or at home.”

Swift will play NRG.

Pop superstar Taylor Swift's U.S. leg of "The Eras Tour" will come to Houston at NRG Stadium on April 22, 2023. She'll also visit AT&T Stadium in Arlington for back-to-back shows on April 1 and 2, 2023.

The Texas dates are three of 27 shows Swift will play in the U.S. over the course of five months, starting in Glendale, Arizona on March 18.

At both the Houston and Arlington dates, Swift will be joined by special guests beabadoobee and Gracie Abrams.

The Eras Tour is in support of Swift's new album, Midnights, which has become the fastest selling album of her career, debuting at No. 1 in 14 countries around the world.

She also notched a historic first in the 64-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, as the top 10 songs this week are all from that album. She is the first artist to claim the survey's entire top 10 in a single frame.

To ensure tickets for the tour get into the hands of fans, Swift has partnered with Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program. Registration for the presale is now open through Wednesday, November 9 at 10:59 pm. Registered fans who receive a code will have exclusive access to purchase tickets on Tuesday, November 15 starting at 10 am.

Only fans that have received a unique code will have the chance to purchase tickets, which will range from $49 to $449. In addition, VIP packages will start at $199 up to $899 on a first come, first served basis.

An exclusive premium allocation of tickets has been set aside for Capital One cardholders, who will have priority access to purchase tickets on November 15 at 2 pm through November 17 at 10 pm or until supplies last.

The public on-sale for tickets begins at 10 am Friday, November 18.

World's top women tennis players start final showdown of 2022 in North Texas

The top 8 singles players posed with the trophy at Fort Worth's Hotel Drover.

While all eyes in Houston are on the Astros as they take on the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 3 of the World Series, tennis fans also have an eye on North Texas.

Though not as famous as Wimbledon or the US Open, the WTA Finals will crown a new queen of the women's pro tennis tour in North Texas this week — and all are invited to court.

For the first time, Fort Worth hosts the prestigious year-end finale for the WTA, featuring the top eight singles players and doubles teams in the world. Singles players vying for title, and their rankings, are:

No. 1 Iga Swiatek (Poland)
No. 2 Ons Jabeur (Tunisia)
No 3 Jessica Pegula (United States)
No. 4 Coco Gauff (United States)
No. 5 Maria Sakkari (Greece)
No. 6 Caroline Garcia (France)
No. 7Aryna Sabalenka*
No. 8 Daria Kasatkina*

U.S. superstars Gauff and Pegula are also competing in doubles.

The "round robin"-style competition will take place October 31-November 7 at Dickies Arena, and tickets start at $20.

The prestigious year-end finale has been moved to Fort Worth from Shenzhen, China, for one year only, WTA officials say. It's the first time the contest has been staged in North Texas, and the first time it's in the United States in 17 years. The total prize money pool is $5 million.

Players assembled at Fort Worth's Hotel Drover for a celebration and "draw party" on Friday, October 28. (More on the groupings, draws, and prize money each player picks up throughout each round here.)

Each day in the first rounds, play starts at 3 pm, and both singles and doubles matches will be played. Friday through Sunday, play begins at 1:30 pm. The finals in both doubles and singles will take place at 5:30 pm and 8 pm respectively, Monday, November 7.

The initial order of play, on October 31 and November 1 is:
