Alamo Drafthouse has announced an opening day for its newest Houston-area cineplex. The Austin-based theater chain will open at the Vintage Park Shopping Village off of Tomball Parkway and Louetta Road in northwest Houston on Feb. 14, 2013.
The Vintage Park location fits in with the suburban model that the company has used in the Houston area in the past. The chain, which features dinner and drinks in addition to first-run movies, currently has a location at Mason Park in Katy. It closed its theater at West Oaks earlier this year when the Edwards Cinemas built a new movie theater in the mall.
On its website, Alamo touted its state-of-the-art beer system at the new Vintage Park location. "We have so many taps, we can’t even fit them all in this picture," the site noted, adding that the theater would have the capacity to "any kind of keg we can procure in Texas" at the temperature the brewer specifies.
The chain is current building its first theater complex inside-the-loop, with a Midtown location at 2901 Louisiana, and is embarking on an ambitious national expansion, with new theaters planned in New York City's Upper West Side, Brooklyn and Yonkers.
