Mariah Carey fans have followed the diva as she has hit the high notes as a chart-topping singer and been down in the dumps as a defeated actress. (Remember Glitter?) Recently, she's been criticized for her erratic appearances — she's been tipsy on a "splash of champagne" while accepting awards— and praised for her mesmerizing performance as a plain-Jane social worker — without any makeup— in the indie-darling, Precious. But no one can argue with the number of danceable hits she has produced in her 20-year career.

Very few of her followers, however, have had the opportunity to see her up-close-and-personal — until now.

Carey is bringing her 2010 "Angels Advocate Tour" to the Verizon Wireless Theater on Feb. 17. The intimate downtown space holds at most 3,000, far less than the 15,000-seat arenas where Carey usually performs.

The tour is in support of last year's r&b chart-topping album "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel,"  which features the singles "Obsessed," "H.A.T.E.U." and a cover of Foreigner's, "I Want To Know What Love Is."

Tickets go on sale to the general public at all Live Nation outlets at 10 a.m. Saturday.
