Serving lunch and dinner, Sylvia's unique Mexican food, made from homemade recipes with all fresh ingredient, has become a Houston institution. Owner Sylvia Casares is known for her tireless work ethnic. She won't put a dish on her menu until the recipe has been totally perfected. The decor has an old world/grotto style feel and an amazing patio.
Choose from over 18 varieties of enchiladas, vegetarian plates and fajitas. For those struggling to choose from the enchilada options, start with either the classic cheese enchiladas topped with chili gravy or chicken enchiladas topped with mole. While the standard guacamole and queso are both tasty, it's Sylvia's signature picamole, a blend of pico de gallo and guacamole, that's an absolute must order. All of the grilled items; mesquite wood-fired grilled items, quail, carbrito, sea bass, and Carne Asada are great and pair well with the homemade corn tortillas. Naturally, the fully stocked bar boasts delicious margaritas that have a good sweet/tart balance and enough tequila bite. For dessert, consider either the chocolate tres leches or signature flan.
