Smith & Wollensky
This two-story Highland Village chophouse is a sleek stop for Houstonians to see and be seen. An outpost of the famed New York restaurant, it has the trademark exterior decor of painted forest greed wood trim on white with latticework and an clubby interior of polished wood floors and brass trim. Good, albeit expensive, steaks predictably dominate the menu, although the summer lobster specials are hard to pass up. For great views, try to nab a seat in the patio room, with the walls of windows overlooking Highland Village, or for a cozy, romantic meal, there's no better spot than the elegant brick wine vault.
Smith & Wollensky stands out as a beacon of classy late-night dining, with a kitchen that's open until midnight or later six nights a week.
