You never have to go far in Houston to find a decent steakhouse. So why do city dwellers keep driving to Pearland for their cuts of beef? Killen's Steakhouse isn't much from the outside, just a small wooden building on the side of an empty stretch of road, but inside everything is world-class, from the Kobe beef steaks to the jumbo fried shrimp to the creamed sweet corn. Did we mention the crème brûlée bread pudding? Yeah, save room for that.
Killen's Steakhouse is so good that chef/owner Ronnie Killen and his crew were invited to cook at the prestigious James Beard House in New York in 2011 and 2012. The chef's nearby barbecue joint is also among the best in Houston.
