This is the original, vintage 1986 restaurant that has now grown to a chain of around 230 franchises. Unlike the other Carrabba's, this place is still owned by founder Damian Mandola and his nephew Johnny Carrabba, and it shows. Here, Carrabba’s Italian-American cuisine goes from basic (fried mozzarella and spaghetti) to ambitious (oak-and-pecan-grilled, pancetta-and-sage wrapped quail) and it’s all tasty and served up in a bustling, convivial atmosphere that is as kid-friendly as it is ideal for couples out on a first date. Hey, bring your grandma. She’ll love it, too.
Avoid the back side alley unless you enjoy the sound of crashing dishes.
