Renaissance Hotel Houston (now the DoubleTree by Hilton Houston Greenway Plaza)

You gotta love a hotel that has a sports bar & grill and a Starbucks on the premises. Not to mention the fact that it’s located in a premier business district, Greenway Plaza, close to downtown and offers complimentary transportation within a three-mile radius, including the bustling Galleria area and chic Midtown restaurants and clubs. You’re also a short stroll away from one of Houston’s most elegant restaurants, Tony’s (in the Greenway Plaza complex), and right down the street from rowdy Tex-Mex bistro El Tiempo Cantina. Renaissance Hotel is also connected to an underground shopping and fast-food dining mall that keeps things convenient and easy. Did we mention the guest rooms are well-appointed and geared to meet the needs of discriminating business travelers? This was a Stouffer's in 1990 when Madonna hosted a big party after kicking off her "Blonde Ambition" tour at the Summit (now Lakewood Church) next door. Nobody knew at the time that she was being trailed by a camera crew for her Truth or Dare documentary.
