Hyatt Regency Houston

When it opened in 1972, the Hyatt Regency was a futuristic marvel, with a soaring 30-story atrium and glassed-in elevator pods. It was so space-age looking that it was featured in the 1976 sci-fi movie Logan's Run. Now it looks a bit dated, although a $40 million renovation has spiffed up the place with updated rooms featuring wireless Internet and flat-panel TVs, modern meeting facilities, lobby bar, the first Texas branch of Shula's Steakhouse, Einstein Bagels, and the rotating restaurant Spindletop. The hotel caters to the business traveler, with complimentary shuttle service to downtown offices and a 24-hour business center. They'll even press your shirt or blouse for free every day during your stay if you're a Business Plan guest.
