Market Square Park
The true historic center of downtown is Market Square Park, which was home to Houston’s city halls from 1841 to 1939, and the site of the city’s original commercial center. The square is surrounded by fine examples of 19th-century architecture that now draw urban hipsters with clubs and restaurants. There are loads of decisions to be made once you arrive: from the beloved La Carafe for a relaxing glass of wine to Niko Niko for a beer and falafel in the park. Market Square's two dog runs are the perfect spots for fashionable downtown dogs to sniff and be sniffed.
