Craft is one of the hottest movements in the contemporary arts world. Whether it in the stunning glass creations of Dale Chihuly, turn-of-the-century Austrian craftsmen furniture, jewelry as ornament, textile art or objects that defy categorization, art no longer has to stay on the walls. Channeling this modern (yet throwback) movement is the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, which focuses on objects of art made primarily of fiber, metal, glass, clay and wood, as well as providing a venue for exhibition, retail and studio space for local craft artists.
