Angelika Film Center (Closed)

Places-A&E-Angelika Theater-front-1

UPDATE: The Angelika abruptly closed in late August, 2010.

Since the lobby restaurant closed a few years ago, the Angelika has seemed a little forelorn. Boy, we wish they would bring the dining-and-a-movie-under-one-roof urban atmosphere back to downtown Houston. But there's no quibbling with the film selections. The Angelika offers the best mix of intellectual Hollywood blockbusters and thrillers, indie gems, the best foreign films and top documentaries. Students head here on Mondays for the complimentary drink and popcorn with their student ticket, or if you want to eat, drink and digest the details of the film you’ve just seen, you're just steps away from the restaurants of Bayou Place and other downtown spots.

The Angelika offers free parking, but it can be confusing. Park underground and take your parking ticket to be stamped at the box office. Or sometimes you have to pay an attendant in the Bayou Place garage (bring cash!) and have the amount deducted from the admission price.
