Mango's in closed.
Mango's is housed in a yellow bungalow on Lower Westheimer, and it's the kind of place that's easy to miss even if you've lived in the neighborhood for years. However, among the music-oriented Montrose set, it's become something of a home base. They are drawn by the plethora of local bands playing here on an almost nightly basis, by the relaxed, not too-cool-for-school vibe (although the the place is definitely filled with hipsters), the friendly bartenders serving beer, wine, and a rotating selection of cocktails (pomegranate mojitos, greyhounds and the requisite mango margaritas, for example). When the weather is decent, the limited but tasty vegetarian and vegan menu, featuring breakfast tacos, salads, pizza, and non-meat burgers and sandwiches offers a great excuse to enjoy Mango's patios.
Dress for a heat wave. With the large crowds and the small space, it can get awfully hot and sweaty in there. And stop in for one of their local comic acts, it's the only spot that offers laughs without convenience fees and drink minimums.
