The Coffee Groundz
This smaller, slightly more serious coffee house is a favorite of students, bloggers and other computer-based types who take advantage of free Wi-Fi during the day. Aspiring writers who aren't into caffeine can earn a seat by ordering up one of the better-than-average wraps or panini (we love the grilled cheese version in particular), some gelato, or even a beer or glass of wine if they work better that way. (Hey, it worked for Hemingway.) To hold a conversation without disturbing other patrons, head to the patio, which holds several larger round tables, though it's not exactly picturesque. As the sun goes down the crowd gets more social and less serious.
Thursday nights are open mic.
