Blanco's
There’s a tiny Texas honky-tonk incongruously located at the edge of River Oaks. Blanco's regularly has live music and customers from all walks of life doing the two-step between cold beers. Don’t confuse it with pseudo-Western hangouts – this is as authentic in execution and sensibility as the famous Arkie Blue’s in Bandera where working cowboys have congregated for decades to do some serious elbow-bending and maybe hold a little lady in their arms on the dance floor. Just make sure that your Stetson isn’t too crisp and your boots aren’t too shiny.
Better be ready to boot-scoot on a weeknight, because Blanco's is inexplicably closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Note: Blanco's will officially close to the public at this location in November 2013. No word yet on whether they will re-open in a different location.
