ROCO’s Connections series continues with a Mexican-style Schubertiade salon performance in the glorious ballroom of Rienzi.
Based upon the writings of Chicana author Sandra Cisneros - born in 1952, when the home was designed - the evening will feature the world premiere of two songs by Composer-In-Residence Derek Bermel, and his “A House of My Own,” from The House on Mango Street/The Opera, plus works by Schubert and others, sung by mezzo-soprano Cecilia Duarte, joined by Ana María Otamendi, pianist, and Jesús Pacheco Mánuel, percussion.
Prior to the concert, guests can enjoy a reception of light bites and refreshments, including an opportunity to experience a docent-led tour of Rienzi.
The concert will also be livestreamed at ROCO.org, Facebook, and YouTube
