The Houston Parks Board, Houston Parks and Recreation Department, and CenterPoint Energy will celebrate the new Sims Bayou Greenway and first recreational trail along a CenterPoint Energy easement in Houston.

The grand opening event will include a variety of family fun activities including life-size yard games from Nature & Eclectic Outdoors, e-bikes provided by Bike Barn, a scavenger hunt, free face painting, a food truck, sidewalk activities, free snow cones and popcorn, and more. The event will conclude with a ribbon cutting ceremony at noon.

This milestone moment will mark the completion of the first recreational trail along a CenterPoint easement in Houston. The 1.5-mile hike-and-bike trail will run north of Sims Bayou Greenway to W. Airport in southwest Houston, providing important connections to the communities living in this area. The occasion also marks the completion of a Bayou Greenways 2020 segment and the completion of a 2.58 mile segment of Sims Bayou Greenway beginning at Heatherbrook Drive and ending at Buffalo Speedway.
