Foto Relevance presents Lou Peralta: "Disassemble" opening reception

eventdetail

Foto Relevance will present Lou Peralta: "Disassemble," marking the Mexico City-based artist’s first-ever solo exhibition in the United States. Featuring over 30 of Peralta’s constructed photo-based portraits, "Disassemble" will showcase the artist’s mastery of melding traditional studio portraiture with craft techniques.

Expanding upon her legacy as a fourth-generation member of a family of portrait photographers, Peralta’s works incorporate tactile materials selected in honor of her subjects’ respective cultural heritages. Drawn from nine states across Mexico, the materials range in significance from the historical to the colloquial, and are woven and embedded into Peralta’s photographic prints, giving unique, sculptural dimensions to the constructed portraits.

Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display until November 8.
