Rice University, in collaboration with the Rice University Athletic Department and “R” Association, will host two very special events in honor of alumnus and Rice University Hall of Fame Football Player, O.J. Brigance. These events will not only celebrate ALS Awareness Month (May), but also Brigance’s decade of strength, spent fighting the disease for himself and ALS families across the country.
The first event of the day, the Celebration of Courage 1.57 Mile Championship Walk (all ages welcome), will allow attendees to enjoy music by DJ Paki Nelson (Rice Alum DJ), snacks and water, and games in the Kids’ Fun Zone as they honor Brigance with fun and fitness.
Later that evening, at 6 pm, the University will host guests at the Patterson Center for the Celebration of Courage Party (adults age 21+). Ticket holders will get access to delicious food and beverages, entertainment, a silent auction, and a program which includes remarks from Brigance and recognition of all O.J. Brigance Courage Award winners from the last several years.
