Blazing the trail for the technology, technique and sound of his genre since the late 1970s, JD Emmanuel brings his music that has broken conventional boundaries to Houston as part of the Brave New Waves: Exploration in Electronic Sound series.

Composing with a deeply meditative approach, Emmanuel enhances the ability of the mind and the spirit, beckoning for both to go beyond what is considered "normal" boundaries for the five senses. These soundscapes of minimal notes yet lush aural sounds allow for audiences to take in the music in a mind-expanding state, aware of their own spiritual state.

With a musical presentation that is anchored in cyclic, poly rhythmic music as well as drones, Emmanuel's layers of improvised leads and melodies enhance the escape of time and space. Further enhancing the experience for the audience, he also uses environmental sounds such a rain, wind, birds, oceans and more.
