Time travel with Apollo from colonial New Spain and 18th century Italy to modern Mexico and back again. Manuel Ponce revisits the spirit of his ancestor Manuel de Zumaya in a revival of neo-Baroque styles. Nationalistic composers Carlos Chávez and Silvestre Revueltas, while reviving the folkloric music of their native Mexico, also found inspiration in the radical musical styles of Russian composer Igor Stravinsky.

Explore the fascinating cross-pollination of musical murmurs and inspirations in this musical kaleidoscope.

University of Houston musicologist Howard Pollack presents a pre-concert lecture.
