Katie Friel is the former editor of CultureMap Austin and CultureMap San Antonio.

Katie received a Master of Arts in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies from Catholic University. In 2010, she was selected to be a Carnegie Knight/News21 journalism fellow.

In addition to CultureMap, her writing has appeared in Variety, Texas Monthly, USA Today, Austin Business Journal, Modern Luxury, and Austinist, among others. She previously was the editor of Tribeza.
