Dior Grand Opening
Dior grand opening party is a hit, with swank VIP salon that everyone wants to call home
What:Dior boutique opening.
Where: River Oaks District.
The 411: The fashionably-dressed SRO crowd was as taken with the swank interiors ("I could live here," said more than one guest) as with the trés cher offerings (we loved in particular the bejeweled mini-Dior bag at $5,000 each).
And then there was the parade of swank party foods from A Fare Extraordinaire, which met Dior's wish to slay the party crowd: Caviar blinis, foie gras, ahi tuna tataki, miniature chocolate eclair puffs and petite meyer lemon tarts, washed down with bottomless bottles of Moet et Chandon.
Christian Dior Couture president and CEO Pamela Baxter mixed through the crowd of good customers, showing off the special artwork. Dior commissioned several contemporary artists, including including Rob Wynne and Phillippe Montels, to contribute to the classy digs and furnishings be modern masters. A special discovery for those who ventured to the second floor — a VIP salon in shades of gray and silver for private appointments and, who knows, a party or two.
