Escaping cellphone society: In this throwback town, homemade signs rule the land
Grayton Beach, Fla., is a world apart. When you turn off of 30-A, you get a sense of the place right away.
Little bungalows on either side of the road rest comfy like in lush green vegetation. Some are newer than others but they all look like they belong there, like old pillows on a sofa.
But, I won’t go on about the bungalows or the beach there or the brackish lakes near by, each of which scratch something deep every time I see them.
It’s the homemade signage at Grayton Beach that catches my eye. They are as suitable to the place as much as anything, reflecting a state of mind.
If you long for a reprieve from cellphone society — you’ll find it at Grayton Beach.
