Smiles guaranteed: Cancer fighting kids have summer camp brought to them at Texas Children's
Undeterred by chemotherapy treatments or bed rest, inpatient and outpatient pediatric and young adult patients at Texas Children's Cancer Center enrolled in summer camp this week, thanks to Camp Periwinkle.
The 30th annual event is just one offering from The Periwinkle Foundation, a Houston organization that provides programs and help for more than 4,000 children each year affected by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, and their families.
The Periwinkle Foundation partnered with the BG Group for the two-day camp, which drew dozens patients and their families to the Cancer Center on Wednesday and Thursday for carnival games, arts and crafts, Build-A-Buddy activities, face painting, Wii Home Run Derby, football, soccer and basketball.
