Queen Bey Rules
Beyonce gets a serious national magazine to fall in love with her, proves to be Most Influential of all
Everyone knows being a Texan is special, but imagine being a Texan and being named one of Time's 100 Most Influential People in the world. Well, four lucky Lone Stars were bestowed that honor with the magazine releasing its new annual list of movers and shakers.
Who made the cut?
Apparently, if you release an album and a bevy of music videos with no announcement, and it still debuts at No. 1, you get a spot on the Most Influential list. Oh, and if you launch a sold-out world tour, land on the cover of Vogue and stillmanage to take care of a 2-year-old, you also get a spot on the Most Influential list.
If you do all of those things, you're Beyonce. And you also end up as the cover star of the whole Most Influential issue.
Robin Wright's haircut alone should have nabbed her a spot on this list.
But Houston's Queen Bey wasn't the only celebrity to join the Time class of 2014. Matthew McConaughey, who went from silly rom-com star to bona fide Academy Award-winning actor this year, also nabbed a spot. Richard Linklater, another famous Texan who directed McConaughey in his break out role in Dazed and Confused, wrote about the star for Time.
"His goal is to connect, to translate, to listen, to be heard, to ascend one more step in this work in progress called life," Linklater put it.
While she may not be as famous as her fellow Texans, evangelical Christian and climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe is an important addition to the Time Most Influential list, too. Director of the Texas Tech Climate Science Center, Hayhoe is also featured in Showtime's Years of Living Dangerously, a series that spotlights climate change. Along with her husband, an evangelical pastor, Hayhoe has penned the book A Climate for Change: Global Warming Facts for Faith-Based Decisions, which examines climate change through the lens of Christian-based faith.
Fans of House of Cards will not be surprised to see Dallas-born Robin Wright. Wright's haircut alone should have nabbed her a spot on this list. With fellow actress Naomi Watts penning her entry for Time, Wright is lauded for her long career and dynamic acting talent.
