Bo's Place luncheon featuring Ron Hall pulls at the heartstrings while raising $300,000
The invaluable gift of compassion was the cornerstone of the Bo's Place Hearts of Hope luncheon that featured guest speakerRon Hall, author of New York Times best seller Same Kind of Different As Me. His story of friendship with a homeless drifter is now under contract for a movie with Disney.
He spoke before the gathering of more than 600 at the Westin Galleria, where $300,000 was raised for Bo's Place programs that aid grieving children, families and adults.
The luncheon was chaired by Linda and Mark Evans and Bo’s Place board of directors member Kathy O’Neil and husband Phil Ferguson.
Special recognition was given to Dr. Bruce Perry, senior fellow of the ChildTrauma Academy, who received the Robin Bush Award, and to New York Life. That firm's support has enabled Bo’s Place to develop Spanish-language support groups and to create the first off-site grief support group, located in the Gulfton area.
Supporters included Mindy Hildebrand, Dena Prasher, Liz and David Anders, Lyndsey Zorich, Katie Zorich, Kristine Hite Dorsey, Dorothy and Ronald Cuenod Jr. and Amanda Sandoval.
