    WHERE TO SHOP

Where to shop in Houston now: 6 limited-edition local looks for January

    Julia Davila
    Jan 22, 2020 | 9:30 am

January brings resolutions, new goals, and Sunday evenings spent watching some of the biggest moments in red carpet fashion at dazzling award shows. The first month of the year, and a new decade, is jam-packed with events that warrant the perfect reason to shop for a new outfit. (Hello, Grammys watch party.)

With the stars in mind: This month, look for several limited-edition and release collections from your favorite Houston labels — and a national line by our own royal, Queen Bey.

    Accel Lifestyle
Calling it “a bold move that feels right,” Megan Eddings and her team are launching two limited-edition styles in its Prema loose-fitting performance tank and the breathable classic Prema crop tee with the statement “Manifest That $hit.” Eddings aims for those wearing this limited edition release is to “become a magnet for what you what in life.” Shipping the week of January 20, your new Accel Lifestyle gear will be the cleanest fabric in your closet this year.

    Adidas x Ivy Park
The first black woman to be the sole owner of an athleisure brand, Beyoncé has dropped her first collaboration, adidas x Ivy Park, Saturday, January 18 in adidas stores and online. In an interview with Elle, the Houstonian says she focused on designing a unisex collection of footwear and apparel because she saw so many men in Ivy Park.

    Glass Cypress
The luxury streetwear men’s label renovated their three-story, 5,000-square-foot home in Houston’s suburbs, imitating a gallery-like environment. Founded by brothers Samee and Saber Ahmed in 2016, the invite-only concept “wasn’t to create an exclusive or elusive nature around the brand,” Saber Ahmed tells CultureMap. He says the purpose is to open the minds of their consumers to acceptance. “We don’t do this to just provide cool clothing, but to help move the direction of the world towards freedom.”

    Imperial
Known throughout Houston as the leading hand-picked vintage streetwear brand, Drew Parker took his in-house line, Imperial Lab and reworked Carhartt’s workwear, including the full-zip work jacket, trench coat, heavy-duty work jacket, four-pocket work jacket, and more. Houstonians can shop this limited-quantity collection online and at their Montrose showroom.

    Kalil Clothier
Native Houstonian Kimberly Kalil founded Kalil Clothier, a bespoke clothing label, in 2016. Specializing in custom clothing for men and women, from tuxedos to suits, jeans, and everyday button-downs, Kalil is the only female custom clothing business owner in the Bayou City with a Master Custom Clothier certification.

    Palacose
Known as a brand “that’s bringing positivity, creativity, and belief through couture” is the first and only Houston-based label sold exclusively at The Heights streetwear store, Proper. Look for two collections, More WiFi Please, which takes an approach of appreciating WiFi to “spark the conversation with a WiFi dependent generation,” and Tea House in the Gardens, “staff uniforms for a make-believe tea house” are available in limited quantities.

The hand-painted enamel hearts represent each girl through their favorite color. Kendra Scott will not retain any profit from the Heaven's 27 Strand Necklace; 100 percent of net profits will benefit the Heaven's 27 Foundation through the Kendra Scott Foundation.

    Silvia Tcherassi
Houston is getting a new name in luxury fashion. Colombian designer Silvia Tcherassi is opening her first Texas boutique in River Oaks District. The boutique is located between the new Chloé and A.L.C. stores. Shoppers can expect Tcherassi’s latest ready-to-wear collections, Atelier pieces, accessories, and styles created exclusively with Houston in mind.

The brand specializes in tailored clothing for athletic builds and offers suits, sport coats, dress shirts, and pants made with stretch fabrics for comfort and ease of movement.

    Urban Outfitters
Urban Outfitters just opened a new store at The Woodlands Mall, introducing the brand’s latest retail concept to the market. The large, 5,604-square-foot space will feature a brighter, more modern design, making it easier for shoppers to navigate the store and personalize their looks. To celebrate the opening, UO Rewards members will receive a gift with purchase, with no minimum spend required, including a tote, gourmand fragrance, and patches.

    Vince
Vince at River Oaks District is partnering with Houston-based ceramic artist Franki Star for an in-store art showcase. Running Monday, September 8 through Saturday, September 13, Star's ceramic pieces will be on display throughout the boutique all week.
