Tradition holds that the ladies dress to kill for the Houston Community College Passion for Fashion kick-off and last week's gathering at Susan Krohn's River Oaks chateau was no exception. Consider Nidhika Mehta who stepped out of her comfort zone for the high-style event to don a black and white animal print shift by Alexander McQueen from Neiman Marcus.

Nidhika confessed that she went shopping only the day before to spiff up her wardrobe for a few important upcoming events.

Since she doesn't go sleeveless, she wore a Wolford bodysuit beneath the dress and topped it off with a playful fur wrap."Thanks to the erratic Houston weather, I last minute decided to carry the fur I had picked up in Aspen one year," she said. "It all was so black and white that I added some color with my diamond and turquoise earrings. I bought them in Kuwait years ago."

She carried a knuckle clutch by Alexander McQueen and wore Prada pumps that she found over the holidays in Miami at the Bal Harbour Shops.
