When Janet Gurwitch went shopping in her closet for just the right outfit for the Donna Karan Ambassadors event, she had two things in mind. "I thought I might want to try on clothes here, so I wanted to be comfortable," she said. "I knew it was going to be a fashion savvy crowd so I wanted to be stylish."
Indeed, it was a group of high-style women that turned out at the River Oaks home of Sheridan Williams, a DK ambassador who designated M.D. Anderson Cancer Center as recipient of charitable proceeds from the sales event. Racks of clothes lined the entry hall of her home and lanky models strode through in the latest Donna Karan from Saks Fifth Avenue.
For this late-afternoon fashion event, Janet selected a classic white linen Ralph Lauren blouse with broad lacey cuffs, a piece she has had long enough for it to be considered a classic but not yet vintage. She paired the blouse with a simple black blazer and close-fitting slacks, both by Theory and purchased at Neiman Marcus. She completed the sophisticated city look with black boots by Manolo Blahnik, also purchased at Neiman's, and a black quilted Chanel bag.
