Dressing up for outdoor parties at this sweltering time of year can be such a drag. It's just too hot to think of high fashion. But that hasn't thwarted a host of stylistas from finding just the right look. Take UTHealth psychiatry resident Elizabeth Truong for example.

This native Houstonian displayed just the right combination of summer comfort and poolside chic for the Party in Pink evening at Hotel ZaZa. "In regards to dressing for the heat, I prefer skirts and dresses to allow for better circulation. Sandals are also a must," she said. For this evening, she built her outfit around the high-waisted skirt from H&M that she felt captured the "sweet and pretty" attitude called for in the invitation.

Elizabeth found her ruffled sleeveless top at Banana Republic, picked up the belt at Francesca and the purse at Replay Vintage. Her sandals are from the Seychelles.

"I shop all over the place," she explained, "online, vintage stores, boutiques, department stores and I wear what I like, even if it's not the current trend or the latest designer. Whatever I wear, I still like to be able to walk, eat and dance in it. I don't let my clothes stop me from having fun."
