Blogger Mike McGuff, who does a great job of monitoring the Houston media scene, has compiled a list of the most remarkable moments in radio, TV, print and the Web media in 2009.
It has been a major year in transition, with big-time radio DJs and news anchors jumping ship, major layoffs at the Houston Chronicle, and the rise of Houston-centric blogs and Web sites.
Other highlights on the list: KHOU 11's Wii weather and traffic reports, the launch of The Texas Tribune, major DJ moves like the debut of Dean and Rog on 107.5 The Eagle, and major departures, such as Giff Nielsen's exit from Channel 11 and Lanny Griffith's goodbye to Channel 26.
CultureMap made McGuff's list three times: For our launch, the hiring of Clifford Pugh as editor-and-chief, and Shelby Hodge's spectacular departure from the Chronicle for the world of new media at CultureMap. Thanks for the kudos, Mike!
