Made for Hou: Miu Miu creates exclusive handbag for Houston store opening

Every time Miu Miu opens a new boutique, it creates a limited edition handbag exclusively for that store. So to celebrate the opening of the Miu Miu boutique in The Galleria,  the Italian high fashion label which features designs by Miuccia Prada — Miu Miu is her affectionate nickname — is offering a snakeskin bag in three pastel colors with gold hardware detailing and gold chain link strap.

There are only five handbags made in each color — 15 total — available at the Houston store, which opened late last week.

The new store is in good company. When Miu Miu opened its fourth store in China earlier this year, it released a limited edition cloque patent leather clutch bag with turn-clasp and bejewelled strap. Upon opening a store in posh Harrod's in London in August, it offered a limited edition Frame bag in three colors (as in Houston, offering only 15 bags).

When Miu Miu opened a new store in Honolulu a couple of years ago, it created a limited edition Hawaii Exclusive bag — creating only 50 of these bags to celebrate the 50th state. The bags sold out on opening weekend with some Japanese enthusiasts paying up to $15,000 for one of the limited edition pieces on the Internet.

Each Houston bag, which just arrived in the store on Tuesday, retails for $2,350.

But for a handbag lover, owning a limited edition like this: Priceless.
