Throw one back after turkey dinner at one of these bars open on Thanksgiving Day

11.24.11 | 06:00 am

Thanksgiving is a holiday of traditions: The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Black Friday shopping, football and, of course, drinks after dinner.

Everyone needs to unwind after spending the day with family and celebrate the three-day work week. Throw back a few cocktails on Thanksgiving Day at any of these fine establishments. Just don’t forget the number for Yellow Cab.

Marfreless is open 365 days a year. Whether you are in the mood for romance or just a hidden locale, this dimly lit bar opens at 8 p.m. — just in time for your escape.

Monarch Bistro at Hotel ZaZa will be open all day. If you missed out on the pumpkin pie, or just want more, indulge in a Pumpkin Pie cocktail made with vanilla ice cream, spiced rum, pumpkin pie spice and whipped cream.

On the other hand, if you're looking for an alternative to traditional Thanksgiving fare, Kenneally’s Irish Pub serves up a mean thin-crust pizza to wash that turkey down with. Doors are open from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m.

The Railyard (formerly the Roll'N on San Felipe) will be open from 6 p.m. until 2 a.m. Catch the Texas/Texas A&M game on the big screen.

It is hard to beat the cheap drink prices at Lizzard's Pub. Saddle up to this laid back bar — a converted house on Sackett Street — in your flip flops. Lizzards is open Thanksgiving Day from 6 p.m. until 2 a.m.

Little Woodrow’s Midtown will also be showing the last-ever Texas vs. Texas A&M game. Bar hours are 7 p.m. until 2 a.m.

A new addition to Midtown, BlackFinn American Grille will be open until 2 a.m. The late night food menu is available until 1:30 a.m., and Thanksgiving Day is no exception.
