HOMETOWN GLORY

No, it's not an oxymoron: The Woodlands is officially cool, by Travel + Leisure decree

09.01.10 | 11:09 am

To the defenders of The Woodlands' innate awesomeness, your efforts have been vindicated.

Travel + Leisure went looking for the 10 coolest suburbs in America, and it's no surprise to us that The Woodlands made the list.

Alongside historic artist enclaves (Montclair, NJ) and intellectual magnets (Evanston, Ill.), The Woodlands is singled out largely for its commerce, with references to Anadarko and FSN headquarters alongside mentions of Market Street and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.

It's rather obvious the editors aren't too familiar with the town though — the suggestion of an elaborate lake and waterway system traversed by water taxi has very little in common with the isolated and virtually unused urban pond — a more accurate representation of The Woodlands' unique vibe would have been a mention of the extensive bike trails (which really are elaborate) and proliferation of parks and lush greenery.
