SHELBY'S SOCIAL DIARY

Legacy evening ramps up the glamour at Neiman Marcus

05.03.10 | 11:29 am

All those hottie women, all those handsome men — the crowd at Sunday night's Legacy benefit dinner, "Where Fashion Meets Philanthropy," looked as if it came from central casting for Sex and the City 2.

Starting with the three dinner chairs Melissa Mithoff and Susan Plank, both rated as 10s, and the debonaire Bob Devlin, our own Mr. Big, there was eye candy at every turn. Just consider a few on the honorary committee that romped through the cocktail hour — Ericka and Jeff Bagwell, Terry Wayne Jones, Jay Jones, Ceron, Joyce Echols, Neal Hamil, Cathy Finn, Monsour Taghdisi, Christopher Mendel, Elizabeth and Gary Petersen and Don Mafrige Jr.

The Neiman Marcus jewelry salon fairly pulsated with the energy of the 240 guests who arrived early for serious schmoozing.

Special guests on this fashionable evening were Debra and Mark Grierson, who were recognized with the Jerry D. Bartee Humanitarian Award. They were honored for their broad-reaching community involvement.

Legacy Community Health Services executive director Katy Caldwell and development director Chree Boydston couldn't have been happier with the turnout and the tony exposure for the agency that provides across-the-board health services at no-cost and at low-cost for those in need, specializing in HIV/AIDS treatment. Overall, it was a great week for Legacy that included a $500,000 grant from the GE Foundation, a clinic refurbishing by a volunteer team from Comcast and completion of a video funded by Imperial Sugar. That and the gala dinner all in less than seven days.

Dinner was served in the couture salon on level two where the Jackson & Co. team worked its expected magic. Jackson Hicks and Milton Townsend flew from Houston Grand Opera's Xerxes matinee to make it to the Galleria in time for finishing touches on the dinner set-up. It was applause, applause from happy diners including Laura Casey, Brittney and Max Tribble, Laura Bahtia, José Solis, City Councilman Steve Costello, Trini Mendenhall, Paul-David Van Atta, Brian Teichman, Carolyn Farb and Jessica and Philip Meyer.

Applauding the successful efforts of their wives were Michael Mithoff and Mike Plank.
