SATURDAY MORNING CHEFS

Free lessons from Houston's celebrity chefs: It's a Highland Village thing

04.16.10 | 11:54 am

Anyone who has ever wanted to peek into the kitchen after an amazing meal should get themselves to the Highland Village Farmers Market over the next seven Saturdays.

With funding from the Go Texan! program, chefs from top kitchens around Houston will get $100 to spend in the market, and then will perform cooking demonstrations featuring their fresh, local ingredients. Starting this Saturday, one culinary A-list chef cooks at 10 a.m. and again at 11:30 a.m. After each session, the week's chef will offer food shopping advice, answer questions about ingredients and give culinary tips.

Best of all? Each demonstration is completely free.

The complete schedule of chefs is as follows:

Saturday – Dylan Murray, Benjy's
April 24 – Ryan Pera, The Grove
May 1 – L.J. Wiley, Yelapa Playa Mexicana
May 8 – Monica Pope, t’afia
May 15 – Randy Evans, Haven
May 22 – Michael Pellegrino, Max’s Wine Dive
May 29 – David Grossman, Branch Water Tavern
