It's been over a year since Chris Shepherd announced plans to open his own restaurant and starting today fans can finally get their first taste of Underbelly.
Though the actual restaurant is still closed for finishing touches, the Wine Bar at Underbelly is opening Friday at 4 p.m. to give a sneak peek at what's to come. In addition to wine service managed by sommelier Matthew Pridgen, the wine bar will offer "cheese, basic charcuterie, and other small bites."
The wine list, according to Greg Morago, consists exclusively of bottles from family-owned and operated wineries, part of Shepherd's philosophy of working with only small producers.
The Wine Bar at Underbelly will be open every day except Sundays from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m. and the restaurant will quickly follow. The full Underbelly is opening to the public on March 5.
