In the coming warmer months, one of the easiest ways to spice up a classic LBD or LWD is with a bold and eye-catching statement necklace.
While you could always find fabulous pieces by familiar big-name designers such as Oscar de la Renta or Donna Karan, as well as younger, emerging lines like DANNIJO and Tom Binns, there weren't many options for those on a bauble budget until recently.
While I'd love to buy this African-inspired wood tribal necklace by Donna Karan, I don't have a money tree in my backyard.
Fortunately for me (and those of you hoping to stay within a budget), there are several retailers that offer the season's hottest trends at absurdly low prices.
With last year's launch of BaubleBar and the growing popularity in cheap-thrill shops like ASOS and TopShop, anyone with $25-85 can wear this year's biggest trends.
Here is a look at some of my favorite statement necklaces that are both wallet-friendly and wearable.
I own several cool spiked bangles from ASOS and constantly get compliments on them - people assume they are Eddie Borgo, when they are in fact only $30.
The pieces are heavy (unlike cheap finds from Forever 21) and well-made, offering a high-end look for less.
Necklaces like these were all over the place in NYC during fashion week, fastened under tightly buttoned shirts and over simple sweaters.
An online retailer on the fast-track, Nasty Gal is known for it's fresh and edgy line of affordable clothing, funky shoes and absurdly cool accessories.
The skirt I wore when photographed for The Style File was actually a Nasty Gal purchase!
Their jewelry ranges in price depending on the designer, but the pieces made in-house are always under $50.
A personal favorite of mine, TopShop offers dramatic trends at small prices. I just purchased the Oval & Chain Necklace while in New York for fashion week and it completely transformed a plain black jersey dress into a full-on runway look.
Some local favorites with an assortment of affordable jewelry include A Bientot, Haut Chocolat, and the newly opened New For The Night.
Statement accessories can elevate your most simple wardrobe staples to a look hot off the runway, and you don't have to pay the couture prices to get it.
