Philanthropy looms large on sales tabs that move out of Saks Fifth Avenue this month as the national retailer donates 5 percent of all registered purchases, made with a Saks credit card, to one of five local charities.
In Saks Fifth Avenue cities around the country, local organizations have been cherry-picked to benefit from the program.
And in case you haven't received a plug from one of the five local charities that are poised to benefit, here they are: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Children's Assessment Center, Hermann Park Conservancy, CancerForward and the Texas Alzheimer's Research & Cure Consortium, a collaborative of five of the state's leading medical institutions studying Alzheimer's.
The program runs now through Feb. 29. At the time of purchase, customers are requested to select which of the five local charities they wish to allocate their 5 percent contribution.
