WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?

Canada wants to replace Barack Obama as president: Maple syrup lovers figure they have a better shot than Rick Perry

Oh Canada.

It's true. The United States may not have true universal heath care, jobs, basic human rights for all, an efficient way to control its physical borders or a delightful amicable rhotic accent. Sure, our candidates might be better at coiffures than convincing and memorable political platforms, but do you really think your hockey, maple syrup and letter "u" where no letter should be have a chance in hell of overhauling the American spirit?

"I'm not voting for Canada till I see a birth certificate. How do we know these Canadians weren't born in Kenya."

Written and directed by Chris Cannon, a hilarious new viral meme has emerged that makes a claim to the top political office of the land of the free. Yes, Canada wants to be the next President of the United States of America.

Of course, wherever there's political satire, there's always a hint of candor.

Perhaps what's most absurd is the myriad of comments, some nonsensical, others taking the suggestion to heart, and a select few spinning this into arguments about gun control and marijuana legalization. Here's a few of our favorites:

"I'm not voting for Canada till I see a birth certificate. How do we know these Canadians weren't born in Kenya." — disnak1234.

"Weed can actually fuel your cars and reduce global warming. It reduces anxiety, pain crohns disease and colitis, glaucoma, headaches and and it's being used now to help cancer patients. No side effects have been proven. Better than tobacco or alcohol. It is a natural gift from the Earth that doesn't destroy the planet. " — tonyalak

"OK Canada, you can be our President. But first take back Celine Dion, please." — khunopie.

Tell us in the comments, on a serious note, what parts of the Canadian way of life would you like to see embraced in the U.S.?
